An Open Call for Extras for Upcoming Great Yarmouth Based Film Production

The Drill House in Great Yarmouth will host open auditions for a casting call at 6.30PM on Tuesday 25th February for acclaimed Portuguese film and theatre director, Marco Martins new film.

Zé Pires, casting director of PROVISIONAL FIGURES comments: “The auditions are an open casting call where people of all ages and all experiences can try out their acting ambitions for a chance to work together with an international team on an upcoming feature film”

The film takes influence from the widely successful Provisional Figures theatre show that premiered in Great Yarmouth at The Drill House in 2018. Created by Marco Martins, co-produced by SeaChange Arts, and presented as part of Norfolk & Norwich Festival, the show embedded a diverse cast of local people, many with little or no acting experience, into a piece that explored ideas of migration and what it means to be British and European. The show has since gone on a celebrated international tour, giving the local performers a chance at international stardom.

Marco Martins’ team have been working closely with SeaChange Arts, the team running The Drill House on York Road, since the start of the year.

“Our collaboration with Marco Martins and his team on ‘Provisional Figures’ was an incredible experience from start to finish.” explains Joe Mackintosh, Chief Executive of SeaChange. “Over 12 months they embedded themselves in the town, engaged thoroughly with the rich and complex communities and allowed the piece to develop organically which ended up creating something deeply personal to the cast and the town. We’re excited to be a part of that process again.”

SeaChange is encouraging local people of all backgrounds to come along and try their interest.

The sign-up for film extras takes place alongside ‘Circulate’, a networking and sharing event organised by SeaChange Arts for local artists, creators, organisers, and people interested in Great Yarmouth’s cultural scene.

The ‘Circulate’ programme includes a talk with the team behind the film project.

The event takes place at The Drill House, York Road, NR30 2LZ at 6.30pm Tuesday 25th February.
