Shasha & Taylor Productions were commissioned by The Lowry to produce a short preview piece of aerial theatre which responded to the theme ‘Coming of Age’, for their Week 53 festival of new performance in 2018.
The company are now developing this in to a full work, called Everything I See I Swallow, which will premiere at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival before undertaking a short post-Edinburgh tour.
The company consists of Tamsin Shasha and Maisy Taylor, who are performers, aerialists and artists with a generational divide between them, who share an interest in sexuality and its place in modern society. Their work is provocative and exciting, and addresses female empowerment and ownership in a world of shifting attitudes towards sex and feminism. Their work fuses aerial theatre with the ancient art of Japanese rope bondage – shibari.
