Seachange Arts is offering 10-15 small grants of £500 each to seed fund artists already working in or new to the Outdoor Arts & Circus sector who are interested in exploring initial ideas and concepts for a new piece of work and developing narrative structure and writing skills.
Seachange Arts will work with selected artists over an agreed period of time to support the development of ideas for projects that artists ultimately want to get made and out there, reaching audiences. At the end of this process, a £500 development grant will be awarded to help with the next steps of taking the project from paper towards becoming a reality.

Seachange Arts: Idea, Concept & Writing Development Grants for Outdoor Arts & Circus is part of ‘Writing for Public Spaces’.
‘Writing for Public Spaces’ is a project of Seachange Arts and 101 Outdoor Arts which aims to explore the role of writing in performance for outdoors and public spaces
Outdoor work uses text, sound, movement, object and image to create narrative and meaning and often draws on people, places and stories. We want to work with artists to explore these possibilities in contexts where conventional approaches often have to be re-imagined. This initiative will look at writing in its widest possible sense and the role that dramaturgy, storyboarding and other tools can play in creating profound audience experiences.
